Come on in and make yourself at home!

I wanted to start this journey by introducing myself and doing a bit of housekeeping so we’re all on the same page.

We’ll start with me.

I’m Rachel Martin. I am a multi-passionate massage-preneur. skier, dancer, and crafter. I live in Denver with my husband and our small zoo. (I kid. It’s just two dogs and one very fat cat).

I am a body nerd and I love all things Massage.

I earned a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Willamette University in 2012. I’ve worked as a personal trainer, a physical therapy aid, a chiropractic assistant, and finally found my way back to massage.

I earned my Massage Therapy license in Colorado in October 2017 and have been living the massage life ever since.

Me, living the aforementioned Massage Life.

I founded my own studio in 2019, got rocked on my ass by the pandemic like the rest of us, and started over from scratch when we were allowed to go back to work. Fast forward to 2023 and I now get to work hands-on 4 days a week in a space I love, doing what brings me joy, with the best clients a girl could ask for.

More About Me

Aside from my studio, I also:

1.      Manage Queen Street Marketplace: an Esty shop of unique massage therapy tools, anatomy artwork, and more.

2.      Offer online training and education for massage therapists at Six Figure Studios.

3.      Design and build out websites and booking suites for massage therapists as The Techy MT.

4. Run this blog!

As I said, I’m a multi-passionate massage-preneur.

Enough about me. Let’s chat about The Mavens

The Massage Mavens Blog is a passion project I’ve been sitting on for a while. It is meant to be 1 part education, 1 part entertainment, and 1 part inspiration. I hope helps you to move the needle forward on building the studio of your own dreams. That being said, let’s establish some basic understandings, here:

1.      Dammit Jim, I’m a massage therapist, not a literary critic.   My grammar, spelling, & general ability to write a coherent sentence comes and goes. Cheers to the person that can write a perfect blog; but that person isn’t me.

2.      “Don’t offend yourself.” - Marie Forleo. We are all adults here, and I am the kind of adult that swears like a sailor. I also tend to use he/her pronouns for simplicity - but that is not synonymous with “I misuse them intentionally.” If someone has expressed a preference one way or another, I honor it. If someone has not brought it up, neither do I.

3.      Don’t be a dick. If you disagree with something, let’s discuss it! But don’t be a keyboard warrior. Instead, I invite you to shoot me a DM. Let’s chat! There are 330,000 massage therapists in the US alone. We won’t all agree on everything. I’m just here sharing stories, ideas, and what has worked (or not) for me in the hopes that it helps someone else. If you DO turn into a keyboard warrior, intent on sharing negative vibes instead of constructive advice…well, I own the place, and I’m fully within my thin-skinned rights to delete your comments and block you from further participation. #fairsfair

4.      This blog is meant for ALL massage therapists. Students, new grads, old hats, and everything in between.

Long story short: thank you for taking the time to check in, and for honoring that this community is built on mutual respect.

Alright, how that’s all out of the way, let’s have some fun!

None of the articles are in any particular order. And as discussed, all of the articles are meant to help you develop the skills and mindset necessary to thrive as an independent massage therapist.
