Is Entrepreneurship Right For You?

It Isn’t The Path For All Massage Therapists

Welcome back to another Monday with the Mavens. We created the Massage Mavens blog to connect with and educate self-employed massage therapists working to grow as business owners.

It can be lonely working for yourself – and we’re here to remind you that while you’re in business for yourself, you don’t have to be in business by yourself.

While we cater our content to independent MTs, all massage therapists are welcome here; whether you run your own independent massage therapy studio, you contract in a clinic, work in spa, or you are still in school.

There are two sides to this question.

Ultimately, the only way to be certain of anything in this life is to give it a shot.

Neo may have chosen the Red pill. So did I (Also, extra credit to those of you who got the reference). But some people want the blue pill, and that’s okay!

So if you’re feeling adventurous, give entrepreneurship a shot!

You’ll figure it out pretty quickly if you made the right choice.

But. Also.

There are some known quantities to entrepreneurship; whether you’re building a solo massage studio or have plans to open and franchise Massage Envy’s next competitor. Before you take the leap, consider the following:

  • Are you accountable?

  • Reliable?

  • Organized?

  • Willing to learn new skills?

  • Willing to outsource (spend money) on skills you don’t have? This list usually includes needs like tax prep, web design, and more.

  • Do you take responsibility for the path of your life?

  • Are you confident?

  • Are you capable of facing a failure (or five) head on and not throwing in the towel?

  • Or are you hoping to continue clocking in, clocking out, have having your taxes neatly sorted for you?

What’d you discover about yourself from those questions?

Do you think this is the path for you? Amazing! I can’t wait to see what you build.

On the other hand, entrepreneurship is not for everybody. If these questions helped you realize it’s not for you, that’s great, too!

The best thing for you is the best thing for you.

Thanks for stopping by!

As always, we’d love to hear how our content has helped you improve either your studio, your mindset, or your revenue as a self-employed massage therapist.
